La vaca de muerte got his Ruby! DC has been with the sift from the very beginning so it's about time It's almost 2 years since he got his Gold-100...

This hobby-astronomer who lives up in the polar regions of the US has been gunning for this gem the last couple of months and has supplied the sift with some great videos and even better comments over the years. And doesn't he look cool? Well, I think so. If you want to know more about his search for aliens, have a look at his blog.

Deathcow is also the owner of the *livemusic channel, which doesn't take up too much of his time I would imagine. Maybe this is the time to change channels?

Anyway, congrats DC, no one is more deserving! Keep searching for the dark side of Uranus and let us know if you find it.

Go to the above URL, read the blurb, click the link. Note that the first part is not available, but parts 2-9 are there. I'm a little concerned dl'ing this and YouTubing (and subsequently sifting) it because the Stones have apparently sued to keep this doc unreleased since it was made it '72. Anyway, it's grainy and the audio isn't very good, but you can get a feel for the utter hedonistic bubble they lived in at the time. Parts of it are very NSFW (drugs, sex).

Well sadly I am unable to provide a link. I wouldn't mind seeing it though. A YouTube link has been pulled. Can a VS ninja help please?

rules are: copy the string of numbers ^on top^, go to the matrix: http://lab.andre-michelle.com/tonematrix right-click and paste the string inside the 16X16 square grid. listen. got it? now, make your own - then right-click again, copy your string and post it here, so we can hear you!

based on this talk: http://www.videosift.com/talk/Create-your-own-loop-on-this-very-cool-simplified-synth by dft. thanks for getting me hooked, buddy!

PS also unofficial "let's break the longest thread record" post
PPS also I'm wasted, forgive me for spamming

Please try to keep your vintage posts over 25 years old if at all possible. 70s and older is best, but I've put some in from '80 to '85

Thanks

I can't sift this. I really want to share it because it's full of awesome, and I don't have a blog, so it's going here...

For the fans of progressive rock I have created a new playlist. Now when I say progressive rock, Im referring to songs from the 60s and 70s by bands like Genesis, Yes and Pink Floyd. I know there were other bands, ELP comes to mind, but I am limiting it to the bands I love. If you know of any videos I can add to my list, please let me know.

The ultimate sleeper, Snoozedoctor, has finally prevailed in reaching the 100 mark with 94 videos Sifted.

http://www.videosift.com/member/snoozedoctor

It certainly has been taken effort. Sifting unusual Folk, Bluegrass, Country and Rock videos is sometimes the hard way to go, but all the players of things with strings here took notice.

Many of his posts contain remarkable musicianship that reflect his long experience as a player himself, having performed all over the country in his day at all sorts of venues. Many of his excellent posts are the more obscure and well crafted tunes by incredible lesser-known and highly innovative players.

The downside of his fine and unique tastes is a bloated personal queue of over thirty videos, so let's give it a perusal, shall we?

He's also added a great perspective to the Sift regarding the world of medicine and science, being a professional anesthesiologist, although he has failed to put me to sleep.

Congratulations, Snoozy, you're a "gas"!

Videos of Prince's performance covering Radiohead's "Creep" are getting taken down all over YouTube from requests by Prince's lawyers (Prince hasn't been very supportive of YouTube as a medium to communicate his music)

Here's the weird part - Radiohead want them up.

The good folks at TechDirt report that Prince argues they're his performances. And Radiohead say it's their song. Should be an interesting development.

Hope to see the video sometime - and of course here on the 'Sift

I noticed a lot of live music performance videos are not tagged with livemusic. Just a reminder, it exists. Please tag/mark it.

I saw the Scorps twice, once that I remember - and it was pretty good.

I saw The Cure in the early 90s in San Diego and Cheap Trick around the same time in Hawaii.
